ILTI  International Language and Training institute, subsidiary of Yemen Information Centre (YIC), concluded last Thursday, August 15th, 2024, an intensive workshop on basic computer skills. This marked the completion of the first phase of the “Computer Skills” project, with the participation of 10 students from the governorates of Aden and Lahj.

The workshop, which was held from August 4th to 15th, aimed to develop the capabilities and awareness of young people in the field of computers. This initiative seeks to equip them with the skills needed to meet the requirements of the local and global job market, and to enhance their proficiency in using the latest digital technologies such as Windows 11, Office 2021, and Artificial Intelligence. Participants were also provided with essential knowledge and skills to keep pace with rapid technological advancements. This included training on internet usage, familiarization with popular websites and applications, an overview of computers, and an introduction to cybersecurity and cloud computing concepts.

Mr. Mohammed Al-Najjar, the workshop trainer, emphasized that the training, aimed at developing youth skills in the field of computers, is provided free of charge. This reflects the institute’s belief in the importance of empowering young people and providing them with the necessary skills to keep pace with technological progress, ultimately preparing a new generation of qualified personnel for the digital job market.

Participants affirmed the significance of this workshop in broadening their professional horizons, noting that they have become more confident in their ability to utilize modern technologies. They expressed that the acquired skills will enable them to actively participate in the digital job market. Participants also commended the excellent organization demonstrated by ILTI Institute for Languages, which provided them with all the necessary resources for the success of the project’s first phase.

It is worth mentioning that the second phase of the project commenced the beginning of this week, August 18th, and will continue until August 29th, with the participation of ten students
