On Thursday, August 29, 2024, ILTI International Language and Training institute, subsidiary of Yemen Information Centre (YIC), concluded the workshop on computer skills for the second group of the first phase of the “Computer Driving Skills & Labour Market Qualification” project. The workshop had 10 participants of male and female students from Aden and Lahij provinces.
The workshop, which was held from August 18th to 29th, covered various technical skills related to computer courses that align with modern international standards to meet the technological job market’s needs locally and internationally. It included the use of the latest digital technologies, such as Windows 11 and Office 2021, the importance of artificial intelligence, how to navigate the internet and its diverse and useful applications, the concept of cybersecurity, and how to protect electronic devices from breaches, along with an introduction to cloud computing concepts.
The “Computer Skills and the Path to the Job Market” project, consisting of two phases over two months, aims to enhance the computer knowledge and skills of young people, helping them develop their abilities to achieve further progress in the field of computer science and practical applications. This contributes to producing a workforce that meets the demands of local, regional, and international job markets, in line with the goals of the ILTI International Institute, which seeks to develop young people’s skills and eliminate computer illiteracy.
Mr. Mohammed Al-Najjar, the workshop trainer, emphasized that the workshop aims to equip the local community with young specialists in computer science and information technology who can address all technical challenges in the technological field by providing participants with the necessary skills to enhance their technical knowledge and expertise.
Meanwhile, participants from the second group praised the institute’s efforts in providing modern information and resources related to computer science. They confirmed that they benefited from all the theoretical and practical knowledge in information technology programs and techniques, which broadened their professional and technical horizons in this field.
